How Did They Do That?! Photo Episode 4
How Did They Do That?! Episode 4
It takes a lot to create a great photo, and sometimes the process seems like a mystery to the casual observer. In each episode of How Did They Do That?!, I interview a photographer about the creative process behind one of his or her recent popular photos. This time, I talk to suzi9mm about what went into creating Sprained Minds.

:1: Can you tell me some of the technical details about this photo?
It was taken with a Canon 10D and Sigma's suberb 105mm EX macro lens. I seemed to have forgotten the ISO speed at 200, which was completely unnecessary as I used a studio flash with a softbox and that offered plenty of light. Thanks to the flash, I could easily use aperture 11.
:2:  What are you trying to say with this photo?
I never felt like it would contain a message of any kind. It's more like a vis

:1: Can you tell me some of the technical details about this photo?
I was using a Nikon D70 with the kit lens at 18mm. Lighting came from a SB600 wireless flash reflected from the back of an old armoire. Exposure time was about 1/250s. I processed the photo with the Photoshop RAW plugin, converted it to black and white, and nothing more.
:2: What are you trying to say with this photo?
It was a part of my i. series, which deals with information. It should make people think the role t

:1: Can you tell me some of the technical details about this photo?
Shot on Canon 5D with a Canon 17-40mm f/4L lens. Pushed it out to 17mm at 100 ISO using f/5.6 (which is the sharpest aperture for this lens in my opinion) with 1/125 shutter speed. No flash, using natural light. But these values mean nothing because every shot will have their own characteristics depending on the location and the lighting so you would ne

This time, I talk to jonjacobsen about what went into creating The forgotten arrival.

:1: Can you tell me some of the technical details about this photo?
Well, I took this picture with a Canon 350D. 1/400, F/5.0 at 27mm (I use the 18-55mm lenses) and a 100 ISO speed.
The post editing was done in Photoshop CS: Levels, colors, curves, channel mixer and selective correction.

:2: What are you trying to say with this photo?
The concept of this series was "World as reverse". This picture talks about a very well-known princess who arrived, but no one came to gr

:pointr: Director of Artist Relations
:iconMoonbeam13:

Hello!
The purpose of Artist Relations is to strengthen the community spirit as well as network with fellow artists so that we may bring outside opportunities to you, and help you to hone your skills. The Gallery Directors are the first people you should go to regarding your galleries. They are the people you need to make gallery suggestions to, and ask questions about your specific genre, or seek knowledge from. They also act as your lifeline to the administration. They are here to support and listen, and I can tell you we've got incredibly talented, devoted and passionate people on this team, so get to know them!
:bulletgreen: Due to real life constraints, halfliquid has left the Artist Relations team.  Aeires will be manning Pixel Art until I bring on a new gallery director.
:bulletgreen:  Many people have sent me 'resumes' of sorts to show their interest in becoming a volunteer on the Artist

The World Through Your Window
Community Project - The World Through Your Window
Note to Moonbeam13 from melasdesign :
"The other day someone I watch posted a simple photo of what she sees out of her window. I was taken by surprise, because her part of the world looked quite different than I had imagined. That led me to wonder about other dArtists throughout the world. What could we learn if people submitted a shot of what they see out of their window? I bet a lot!"
And I agreed wholeheartedly!
Now there is a promotion for exactly this. All you do is take a picture out of your window or front door and post it as a deviation.  Submit your deviation to Events -> Community Projects -> World Through Your Window and a make mention in the deviation descrition of where in the world you are.
We can't wait to see what you see!
